C02 Attractants
Because carbon dioxide (CO2) attracts most mosquito species and other haematophagous flies it has been commonly used with various surveillance traps to increase collection size. CO2 is traditionally supplied to these traps either from compressed gas cylinders, which requires a regulator, or as dry ice. Both methods can be inconvenient and often unavailable in remote locations. Therefore, alternative methods of generating/supplying CO2 to these traps are being investigated.
Carbon Dioxide Attractants
The most effective attractant for most mosquito and biting fly species is carbon dioxide (CO2). CO2 is traditionally supplied to traps from either compressed gas cylinders (which requires regulators) or as dry ice. Both methods of utilizing CO2 are inconvenient and often unavailable in remote locations.
Mosquito and C02 Sachets
- Insectigator sachets offer an easy, simple, lightweight, inexpensive alternative to dry ice and compressed gas, especially in remote areas
- The technology can be combined with other attractants
- The chemicals can be manipulated to skew the production of CO2 (maximum production 0 – 3 hrs, 8 hrs, etc)
- Insectigator sachets can be used to attract other blood sucking arthropods, in housing or for field surveillance
